Udhaar khata done right: reminders that bring the money back

Udhaar keeps customers coming back — but only if the money comes back too. The paper register gets lost, gets wet and starts arguments. Munshi's Udhaar khata keeps every rupee in order.

Every balance, always correct

When you make a bill on udhaar, it goes on that customer's khata automatically. When they pay — cash, JazzCash, bank or cheque — you record it in one tap. The balance is always up to date, and you can see the whole history of any customer.

The same khata works for dealers: what you owe them after receiving maal, and what you paid.

Reminders on WhatsApp and SMS

Tap Remind and Munshi sends a polite message with the amount due and a link. The customer opens the link and sees their own statement — every bill and payment — so there is nothing to argue about. The link is private and expires after 30 days.

Limits and promises

• Set a credit limit per customer; Munshi warns (or blocks) when a bill would cross it.
• Note a promise date ("Friday ko de dunga") and see who has promised what today.
• The ageing view shows who has owed money the longest.

Cheques and post-dated cheques

Record cheques from customers and to dealers — including post-dated ones. Munshi reminds you on the due date. Mark it deposited, cleared or bounced; only a cleared cheque changes the khata, so your balances stay honest.

Selling on installments (qist)

For mobiles, electronics and furniture, Installments lets you set a down payment and monthly qist. Each due date shows up, customers get reminders, and every payment goes into the khata.

Your accountant sees the same numbers

Everything in the khata also goes into your books — receivables and payables — so the profit and the balance sheet always agree with what customers owe.

Tip: send reminders on the 1st and 15th of the month. Most money comes back within three days of a friendly message.
